    Overview

Amplifying the voice of children and young people

CYDA has the mandate to advocate for children and young people with disability living in Australia and undertakes to listen and respond to their voices and experiences. There are a number of ways to connect and share your experiences with us.

CYDA regularly consults with our members through surveys, focus groups, working groups and consultation forums.

The latest opportunities to have your say are below.

    1. Measuring child outcomes in disability services

Scope are inviting carers of children and young people (aged 0-14 years) to help test an outcomes survey. The survey asks carers to think about a disability service or support the child has accessed, and then complete some questions about how that service or support has impacted different areas of the child’s life. Taking part involves the carer completing the survey online. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary and anonymous. The survey is now open. For more information and to complete the survey, click this link.
    2. Disability Gateway

The Australian Government wants to hear from you. Help us improve the service by visiting the new pilot Disability Gateway website and provide feedback on your experience with the service.
    3. YACVic ‘A Seat at the Table’

YACVic is supporting young people to meet with MPs to discuss your experiences of COVID-19. YACVic is looking for young people aged 12–25 who are interested in having their voice heard and making sure the Victorian Government makes the right decisions for young people!
    4. National Disability Strategy Stage 2 Consultations

The Department of Social Services is now undertaking the second stage of consultations on the new Strategy and are asking feedback on governments’ proposals for the next Strategy, as set out in the National Disability Strategy position paper.

      Consultations close: 31 October 2020

Paid Writing Opportunity - Young people with disability must be heard during our Royal Commission!

The DRC is holding hearings between now and the end of the year. Voices of people with disability should be prioritised during these hearings and PwDA will be publishing a series of guest blogs in the lead up to each hearing.
