22-23 May, hybrid event
About the National Youth Disability Summit
The National Youth Disability Summit is a two-day gathering for young people with disability from all over Australia!Â
It is a hybrid event, so you can come to the Batman’s Hill Hotel on Collins Street, Melbourne to take part in person, or join us online from anywhere in Australia.
The Summit is designed for and by young people with disability. It’s a great opportunity to connect with each other and talk about identity, community, empowerment and creating change. There will be guest presenters, Q&A panels, time for discussion, social activities, spaces for creativity and opportunities to learn about, and develop, your advocacy skills.Â
For more detailed information on activities at the Summit, you can take a look at our Summit program. You can also check out our frequently asked questions and information about accessibility.Â
What will we be talking about at the Summit in 2024?
The Summit is co-designed by CYDA’s Youth Council. The Youth Council have chosen three topics to talk about at the Summit in 2024. These are:
- Community
How to find and build a community, get support, and make sure no one is left behind.
- Identity and Empowerment
Self-advocacy, setting boundaries, telling your story, overcoming internalised ableism and different relationships with disability pride.
- Creating change
Grassroots and systemic advocacy, challenging ableism, and how to make change in a way that works for you.
Who can go to the Summit?
Young people with all kinds of disability are welcome at the Summit. This includes people with:Â
- neurodivergence
- mental illness
- intellectual disability
