The introduction of independent assessments is arguably the biggest fundamental change to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) since its introduction, with the proposed changes having a direct impact on all current and prospective participants of the Scheme.
Despite the significance of the proposed changes, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has conducted minimal consultation and engagement with people with disability, families/caregivers, or their representative organisations – the community that the changes will most affect.
