We’re looking for blog pitches from young disabled perspectives for our new series, Doing Adulthood.
This series explores what it means to grow up, find independence, and navigate adult life as a young person with disability.
This is a chance to share your lessons, mistakes, and wins to support other young people with disability who are figuring things out too.
What we're looking for
We’re looking for blogs that speak honestly about the realities of adulthood for young disabled people. Your story might be about:
Moving out of home or living with housemates for the first time
Starting your first job or enrolling in study
Learning how to manage money, Centrelink, transport or healthcare
Making friends, dating, or figuring out identity
Something that surprised you about becoming an adult
Anything else that shaped how you think about adulthood and disability
Your story might be funny, reflective, messy, empowering, or all of the above!
What you need to know
Each blog will be approximately 800 words
Writers will be paid $200 upon completion and acceptance of their blog
Blogs will be published on our website and shared on social media
We will select and publish 15 blogs in total
We’re aiming to include a wide mix of topics and intersectional perspectives
You don’t need to be a professional writer to submit a pitch. We’ll support you through the writing and editing process.
