In December 2024, CYDA recommended that the Department of Social Services (DSS) continue using brief visual descriptions at their events.
This practice helps include and engage people who are blind or have low vision and is an important part of making events accessible and inclusive.
It aligns with Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–2031, which is built on rights-based principles.
