Young people with disability face major barriers to getting and keeping jobs.
They are excluded from employment and education at a much higher rate than their non-disabled peers, leaving many locked out of the workforce.
In CYDA’s submission to the government’s consultation on the 2025-26 Jobs and Skills Australia Workplan, we call for:
- Targeted research into the transition from education to employment
- Better workforce data collection
- A National Employer Readiness Framework
- A national approach to inclusive education and training
- Inclusion of young people with disability in research design
By committing to these actions, the government can help break down employment barriers and make sure every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
