NDIS Review
The recommendations from the NDIS Review have now been released!
The recommendations from the long awaited NDIS Review are now available to read here.
At CYDA, we are pleased to see a strong focus on support for children and young people with disability, with plans to create a new “ecosystem” of supports, both within, and outside of, the NDIS.
The devil is in the details, as they say, and we will be taking a close look at all of the recommendations in the coming weeks.
We will continue to advocate for the needs and interests of children and young people with disability as the reforms are planned and rolled out.

Our work with the NDIS Review
In partnership with the NDIS Review, CYDA ran a series of consultations with young people with disability and their families, to make sure the voices of our community were heard and represented.
We also made a detailed submission to the NDIS Review.
In September 2023, CYDA made a submission to the NDIS Review representing the interests of children and young people with disability.
Our submission had 5 main asks:
- that children with disability remain in the scheme until effective early childhood education and care are available for everyone
- that the NDIS address the unique barriers faced by children and young people with disability in Australia, from preschool to high school, university and beyond
- that the NDIS workforce be empowered to support the unique needs of children and young people with disability
- better data collection across NDIS and non-NDIS systems that children and young people with disability interact with
- a change the perception of children as a cost burden in the NDIS by showcasing the long-term benefits of investing early in childhood support
