Children and young people with disability often face unique challenges in navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
To better support Scheme participants, the Government has proposed a new risk-proportionate provider registration model, along with the establishment of a Taskforce to investigate its implementation.
The model aims to address existing limitations in regulatory oversight and to enhance the quality and safety of services by including everyone providing services to NDIS participants. It draws on recommendation 17 of the NDIS Review Final Report (2023) which suggested a graduated model of registration and enrolment.
In recent months, CYDA surveyed children and young people with disability, and their families and caregivers, to understand how such a model might impact them.
In our submission to the Taskforce, we outline:
- CYDA’s position on the Taskforce’s Terms of Reference
- Results from CYDA’s provider registration survey
- Five key recommendations for the Taskforce
