Drive inclusion and equity for children and young people with disability: 2021-22 Pre-Budget submission

We are pleased to present CYDA's 2021-2022 Pre-Budget Submission

We have 10 key recommendations we would like the Morrison Government to prioritise so children and young people with disability can thrive. A whole-of-government approach is needed as the diverse needs of children and young people with disability sit across multiple government portfolios and ministers. The 10 recommendations for in our Pre-Budget submission are below:

    • Involve and engage children and young people with disability across all government portfolios impacting their lives
    • Drive and fund transformational change to ensure inclusive education
    • Develop and implement a targeted National Youth Disability Employment Strategy
    • Develop a COVID-19 youth recovery response that includes the voices and needs of young people with disability
    • Ensure young people with disability are not living in poverty
    • Ensure the National Disability Insurance Scheme is fit-for-purpose for children and young people
    • Fund outcomes monitoring for children and young people with disability
    • Ensure the Royal Commission into the Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability can meet its terms of reference
    • Adequately resource the new National Disability Strategy’s actions and strategies
    • Boost funding for systemic and individual advocacy for children and young people with disability for better outcomes
