About the Supported Employment Advocacy Project
From August 2026, CYDA will deliver the Supported Employment Advocacy Project (SEA), a national project supporting children and young people aged 18 to 25 with intellectual disability and high support needs, and their supporters, to access clear information and lived-experience stories about supported and meaningful employment.
The project is delivered in partnership with Inclusion Australia and funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. It will produce free, accessible resources, blogs and vlogs, and early-career materials in consultation with young people with intellectual disability and high support needs, and sector stakeholders, to be published nationally online through the DREAM Employment Network.
Who is the project for and why?
The project aims to improve outcomes for:
- people currently working in supported employment
- young people with high support needs transitioning from school
- families and carers, and
- people living in cities, regional, and remote areas.
The project aims to help people to:
- understand their employment options
- learn about their rights at work, and
- access the right support and advocacy to make informed decisions about employment.
