CYDA’s submission to the Select Committee on the Cost of Living highlights the significant impact of financial pressures on children and young people with disability and their families.

This demographic faces challenges in various areas, including healthcare access, education, employment, income support, housing, and data collection. Our recommendations call for systemic reforms aimed at:

  • Improving access to quality healthcare and disability supports
  • Ensuring an inclusive education system
  • Facilitating greater economic opportunities by improving employment outcomes for young people with disability
  • Providing adequate income support
  • Addressing housing affordability
  • Bridging data gaps for better policy formulation
  • Taking urgent action to alleviate childhood poverty.
