In recent years, major reviews into the NDIS and disability safeguarding found serious and ongoing risks of abuse, neglect and exploitation for people with disability.
CYDA’s submission to the Community Affairs Legislation Committee inquiry into the NDIS (Integrity and Safeguarding) Amendment Bill 2025 reflects the need for stronger oversight, clearer rules and better protections for participants.
We called on the Australian Government to:
- Make sure participants receive clear, timely and accessible information if they are exiting the NDIS, including guidance if they want to re-apply
- Improve electronic claiming processes so they are accessible, child safe and centred on participants
- Increase choice, control and transparency for participants in how their NDIS plans are developed and managed
- Strengthen the Bill by clearly embedding human rights and child-safe principles in decision-making and everyday NDIS operations
