Child safety must be a priority for all organisations, not only those with a key focus on children and young people.
In this submission, CYDA strongly supports the National Office for Child Safety’s proposed Child Safety Annual Reporting Framework as a mechanism to enable all organisations to report on child safety.
We suggest additional steps to strengthen the Framework by:
- Focusing on priority equity cohorts like children and young people with disability, including ensuring their meaningful involvement in organisations
- Offering incentives for organisations to participate such as public recognition and accreditation
- Including collaborative and positive accountability measures to uphold safety
These steps will make sure that the proposed Framework is equitable, sustainable, and accountable.
