Young people with disability face some of the biggest barriers to finding and keeping a job in Australia.
They deserve the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers to access meaningful and secure work in workplaces where they feel included and supported.
CYDA welcomes the draft Secure Australian Jobs Framework as a way to set strong principles and standards for the businesses that provide goods and services to the Australian Government.
However, it must be strengthened to recognise the many employment-related barriers faced by young people with disability, by making inclusive amendments.
In CYDA’s submission, we call for two key changes:
- Amendments to Principle 3 (Safe and Healthy workplaces) to strengthen workplace inclusion
- Amendments to Principle 4 (Gender Equality and Diversity) to strengthen an intersectional focus on equity and inclusion
Our recommendations support a Framework that will help set the standard for employers to build inclusive workplaces for everyone.
