The NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee provides advice to the government on which disability supports should be funded under the Scheme.
In March 2026, CYDA made a submission to the EAC’s consultation focused on early behavioural supports, positive behaviour support and social skills supports for children and young people.
We echoed calls from children and young people with disability, and their families or caregivers, for all such supports to respect their rights, strengths and individuality.
We recommended that the government:
- Take a rights-based approach that respects dignity, choice and the whole person
- Improve and fund early behavioural supports that are neuro-affirming, personalised and strengths-based
- Strengthen positive behaviour support by making sure practitioners are skilled and accountable
- Rethink social skill supports by prioritising inclusion in everyday settings like schools and communities
Ultimately, NDIS supports must always be safe, inclusive and grounded in the rights and lived experiences of children and young people with disability.
