Many children and young people with disability are expected to lose access to the NDIS as a result of ongoing reforms to the Scheme.
That is why it is critical supports outside the NDIS, such as Foundational Supports, are carefully designed to meet their needs.
Of the estimated 241,000 participants expected to be removed from NDIS, 64 per cent are aged 18 or under.
In CYDA’s submission on Foundational and disability supports available for children and young people in New South Wales, we call on the NSW government to:
- Fill the supports gaps left by NDIS changes
- Make supports accessible wherever children live
- Identify support needs earlier and beyond the early years
- Provide flexible support where children live, learn, and grow
- Protect safety, choice, and access to quality support
