CYDA is deeply concerned the proposed Better and Fairer Schools (funding reform) Bill 2024 overlooks the needs of students with disability.

This Bill is the key legislative driver of the Better and Fairer Schools Heads of Agreement 2025-2034 (the Agreement).

Without more funding from the Federal Government, many children and young people with disability will miss out on a quality education.

In our submission to the Senate Inquiry into the Bill, we call on the government to:

  1. Increase funding to ensure schools can meet the needs of all students
  2. Stop counting non-student costs as part of school funding
  3. Review the Agreement to better support students with disability
  4. Follow CYDA’s recommendations shared in our August 2023 submission
