In mid-May, CYDA asked more than 200 young people with disability, and their parents or caregivers, to share their thoughts on the NDIS eligibility reassessment process.
Nearly one in four of those surveyed had received an eligibility reassessment letter in the last six months, and a majority were parents of children aged nine or under.
Almost half (48%) of these were removed from the Scheme, or had their funding reduced or services cut, as a result.
In this summary factsheet of our findings, we outline the top issues identified by respondents and their suggestions for improvement.
Their concerns included:
- The removal and loss of supports without clear reasons
- The process feeling unfair or unreasonable
- The process being unclear and confusing
- Poor treatment by NDIS staff
- A severe emotional toll
CYDA will release a full survey report in July 2025.
