22-23 May, hybrid event

Summit Program

We will update this page as details are confirmed.

Times are in AEST (Melbourne time).

13 May 2024 – Online pre-Summit Event!

6:30pm – 7:30pm

Everyone taking part in the Summit will be invited to an online pre-Summit event.

At this event, we will talk about what we will do at the Summit, discuss the themes, and get to know the team organising the Summit! You do not have to come to the pre-Summit event to take part in the Summit, but we would love for you to be there. 😊

22-23 May 2024 - The main event!

10am – 6pm (both days)

On these days we will have:

 Speakers

Each of our Summit speakers will present on one of our three Summit topics. Confirmed speakers are:

Left: A young Asian person with long dark hair. They are dressed to look professional in a black sleeveless top with heart shaped badges on the lapel, sitting with an elbow propped on the table in front of them and smiling engagingly for the camera.

Emily Unity

Emily Unity is an award-winning AuDHD advocate, software engineer, and creative designer. They currently hold roles as a Board Director, consultant, project manager, facilitator, and ambassador.

Emily is informed by their intersectional lived and living experiences. This includes disability, mental health challenges, LGBTQIA+, multiculturalism, neurodivergence, homelessness, family violence, and more.

At the Summit, Emily will speak about how to find and build a community, get support, and make sure no one is left behind.

Jordon Steele-John

Jordon is a Greens Senator for WA and a proud disabled person. He advocates for a fair, accessible and fully-funded NDIS, and equitable healthcare for all. Jordon’s goal is to challenge the boundaries of political norms – both in the Senate and the community and create a more accessible and inclusive society for all.

At the Summit, Jordon will speak about creating change: Grassroots and systemic advocacy, challenging ableism, and how to make change in a way that works for you.

A representative from Deaf Youth Australia will be speaking on identity and empowerment.

Q&A Panels

A group of people – our “panellists” – will take turns talking about our Summit topics and answering questions. Our panellists will be young people with disability!

‘Creating change’ activities

We will run activities that help us think about what change we want to make in the world and how we can make it – no matter how big or small.

‘Connect + Create’ sessions

In these sessions, we will get to know each other and share our thoughts on the Summit topics.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to a Summit “zine”. This is a small magazine in which we will explore our Summit topics. You can write, draw, speak, or anything else and have that be included in the zine. The zine will be published and shared after the Summit.
